Tradescantia Pallida (Wandering Jew) reflects the imagery of the “Wandering Jew” plant that is featured in several works portraying “magic carpets”, boats and mirrors. The sculptures are symbolic of both my personal peregrinations and my perspectives on migration in a social and cultural context. The perennial nature and vibrancy of the plant are a fitting metaphor for expansion and continually establishing or re-establishing one’s place and one’s community in the world. And yet, some people view the plant as an invasive species.
